The Beauty of the Philippines in Video

It’s always a treat to see my country through the eyes of foreign visitors. I needed to see this video today, especially now that everyone seems divided over the national elections. I needed a reminder of how beautiful my country is and how absolutely lucky I am to be living here right at this moment (even if there are days when I just want to fly off haha). Filmmaker Fabio Reitano, who shot this video using DSLRs, GoPro and smart phones, has this to say about the beauty of the Philippines: “Pristine beaches, turquoise waters, breathtaking paradise landscapes, all make the Philippines simply unforgettable.  Incredibly deep culture and traditions, amazing…

Things To Do in Ho Chi Minh City

If there’s anything I’d like to do RIGHT NOW, it would be to sit on a tiny stool while hunched over a big bowl of hot beef pho at a side street somewhere in Ho Chi Minh City.     Considering that I’ve been to Vietnam quite a number of  times already, I can’t seem to get enough of HCMC. I know that there are still a lot more things to do, more places to explore. This Weekend: 2 Amazing Fairs in Manila

If you have no plans of gallivanting out of town this weekend, why not visit two of the most amazing fairs in Manila?  Ladies and gents, it’s time for MIBF and Negros Trade Fair! Wohoo!     The Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) is something I look forward to each year.  It’s a bibliophile’s heaven on earth! And I get to enjoy it because my company (Jesuit Communications Foundation) is a regular exhibitor.     Enjoy up to 75% discount on books, school supplies and just about anything! I even saw a booth selling water filters yesterday. Albergus is catering the event, serving really good meals for 150 bucks.…

Weekend at The Lily in Lian, Batangas

A couple of weekends ago, my family and I were very lucky to have been invited by my dear friend Ian to his beach house in Lian, Batangas. It was a welcome break from weeks of non-stop work. I couldn’t wait to spend a couple of days at the beach without television or the Internet! Needless to say, the weekend was a blast. And somehow, we overcame what seemed to be the impossible; that is, we survived without Facebook or Instagram! 🙂 So here’s a photo diary of our wonderful back-to-nature weekend at The Lily.  And in case you’re interested to book a weekend there (you should be!), here are 5…

    Iloilo’s Madge Cafe

If you find yourself in Iloilo City, be sure to have a cup of coffee in Madge Cafe.     I first visited this neighborhood coffee shop more than 10 years ago. I was shooting a travel show with The Hubby and one of the restaurants we featured was this quaint little coffee shop located inside La Paz Public Market. Even then, its charm was undeniable.   //Madge Cafe’s wall of fame Today, nothing much has changed.  It may be a little more crowded but its appeal to both tourists and locals is still the same.     The cafe’s main attraction, of course, is its deliciously full-bodied coffee…
