The torrential downpour yesterday has left Metro Manila and nearby provinces underwater. 16 are reported dead while 80,000 are now staying in evacuation centers. If you want to help in the relief operations or donate food and clothing, here’s a compilation of the relief efforts organized by various NGOs and institutions.
ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY
The Ateneo de Manila DReaM Team, composed of the Grade School, High School, Loyola Schools, and Professional Schools, in partnership with the Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan will deploy to the following communities on August 8, 2012: Olandes in Marikina, Cab-cab in Antipolo, Sta. Rosa Laguna, Binangonan in Rizal, and Litex in Fairview.
Apart from your monetary donation, should you find it in your hearts to make more donations, may we request for the following:
· Food pack
o Tuna in easy to open cans
o Mixed biscuits
o 2 gallons of water
o Bath Soap
o Laundry soap
o Tissue
o Sanitary Napkin
o Towels
· Sleeping materials
o Tarps or tolda as makeshift beds and tents
o Blankets
· Set of clothes (tops, bottoms and comfortable footwear – sorted according to age group and gender)
· Medicines (paracetamol, amoxycillin, cefalexin, betadine, band-aids, and antiseptics)
· Sacks to place the relief donations to be given per family
Use of vehicles for hard to reach areas and volunteer drivers would also be welcome.
If you are in the Quezon City area, in-kind donations may be delivered to the Cervini Hall Lobby, Ateneo de Manila University, Katipunan Road, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. If you are in the Makati area, you may donate through the Rockwell campus of the Ateneo, through the Ateneo Law Student Council. If you are in the Ortigas/Pasig area, you may go to our Ortigas campus, through the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health.
