Hello! Welcome to Pinay Traveller!
My name is Pauline. I am an all-around media person by day and a traveller for life. I originally created this blog in 2008 to document my trips and file important details such as travel information, (personal) hotel ratings and such. It’s also my virtual travel photo album. But I’m glad that more and more people are able to use this blog as a resource for their travels.
Where I’ve Been
I have travelled extensively in Asia and Western Europe, both for business and pleasure. In between, I was lucky enough to have visited a couple of Emirates and a bit of the Middle East / Central Asia. These travels serve as the backbone of Pinay Traveller. Have a look at my series:
Philippines: Buscalan
Spain: Aboard the Al Andalus and Other Stories
Spain: Travelling Solo in Barcelona
Indonesia: The Search for Borobudur
Sponsored posts and Travel Partners
I collaborate or partner with companies, brands, and like-minded individuals in coming up with the best content possible. And while I receive renumeration for some of my posts, all my thoughts and opinion are entirely my own. Some of my travel partners are:
Spain Tourism Board
Renfe
Ayala Malls
Zinio
Zalora
Digital Mint
What’s in the offing?
If you’ve been following PinayTraveller for a while, you’d know that I travel with The Hubby fifty percent of the time. We have been travelling together since we met and between the two of us, he is the official navigator of PinayTraveller. I’d really be lost without him!As with the rest of the world, all of our travel plans were halted during the pandemic. But now that the world is opening up again, we would like to pick up where we left off. For one thing, we need to use our 5-year Japan visa within the next 2 years! And perhaps do the Camino de Santiago in Spain. But that’d take a lot of planning and lots and lots of moolah. *crossing fingers*
Hope to hear from you soon!
If you want to: a) know more about me/us; b) learn about a particular place I have been to; c) hire me to write or take photos; or d) invite me to an event/festival/your home, please write me a note at pinaytraveller@yahoo.com. So with that, I wish you…

Hi Pauline,
Good day! I have been reading random blogs on the net most of the time, funny how it seems i do not have my own blog :). Anyway, i got the chance to view your blogsite because i saw you in PINAKA (10 wonders of nature in pinas) last week and you were one of the guest panelistas that is why i immediately browse your blogsite and boom, you really have a nice blog – very fun to read, interesting trips and most importantly very informative blog. Thank you for sharing your great experiences with us. Hats off to you pinaytraveller!
Hi Matilda! Wow! You saw that? Haha. I hope I made sense. Thank you so much for looking me up. I’m really glad you like PinayTraveller. I’m only happy to share my experiences with my readers. If you have time, please subscribe to my feeds or follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Here’s hoping that you’d start your own blog, too!
Pauline
Hi Pauline,
Because I found someone in the Philippines who also knows about Fado, I don’t feel like a stranger anymore. May I just say, aside from your blog, YOU ARE AWESOME!
Obrigado!
MARK
Wow! Thanks, Mark! Here’s hoping you’ll be able to see a live Fado performance SOON!
Muito obrigada!
I love your photographs – beautiful! Especially the page of Binanog Dance.
Hi Claire,
Thanks so much! I’m very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.
Happy travels!
Pauline
I love your blog. PinayTraveller is now my favorite site! You definitely have the wits in writing.
Thanks, Margaux! Thanks for linking up, too. Happy travels and stay safe!
Hi Pauline,
Just would like to congratulate and commend you for your fantastic website. Your postings & photos (of course!) excite the senses of people like me who like traveling.
Your fascination translates in your blogs and that’s what makes this travel website click imo – going to places we see only on cable travel shows, immersing yourself in culture, tasting the cuisines, they’re all good and you somehow take us with you wherever you travel. Keep up the good work & Bon Voyage on your next journey!
Hi Rhanny,
Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s great to be able to write about my experiences, even if it gets tedious sometimes. haha My readers’ comments make it even better!
Happy travels!
Pol
This is such an interesting blog! Nice tattoo! 🙂
Thank you , Trina! I’m glad you like Pinay Traveller. And the tattoo! 🙂
Hi Pol! I saw your comment at PTB (FB Page) and I was intrigued with your post. So I back read some of your post (well until Page 29 hahahaha)
I really enjoyed reading your blog! very informative :]
I’ll definitely follow/add you on my reading list.
http://geejaytravellog.blogspot.com/
Hi Geejay,
Oh wow, page 29?! That’s like ages ago haha Thank you for dropping by. Why not like my FB page, too, so you can be updated on new posts?:)
Happy travels!
Pol
Hi! I came across your site as I search for information about the Camino de Santiago. I hope you can share some helpful information even if the tour for 2013 is over. I feel I have to go to Santiago for reasons I cannot really explain or fully understand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Looking forward to Buen Camino!
Hi Zarah!
Wow, I felt exactly the same years ago. It felt as if the Camino was calling me. You should heed that call. Here are my posts about the Camino: https://pinaytraveller.com/archives/category/destinations/camino-de-santiago-destinations I’ve also partnered with the Spain Tourism Board. They are actually actively promoting trips to the Camino. Just shoot me an e-mail if you have more questions. Buen Camino!
Pauline
Wow! Thank you very much for your prompt response. That took me by surprise. 🙂
Well, I do have a lot of questions. I have read many of your posts and I look forward to reading all of them. Truth is, I do not know where to start and with whom I should call to start the pilgrimage. I am a 9-5 employee and scheduling any trip abroad is crucial. I have very limited days to devote to the pilgrimage. I think, to complete one route, I will have to make several trips over several years… But I am optimistic. I know that if God brings me somewhere, He will see me through.
Buen Camino! 🙂
Hi Pauline
Enjoy your blog. It’s fun. Thanks for sharing your personal perspectives of the places you’ve been to. You sound like a fun and interesting gal and seem to infuse the places you visit with your personality.
We’re visiting the Phils in January and since the Pope is visiting we hear they have public holidays there. My brother suggested we drive to Baguio then. And while googling things to do in Baguio that’s how I came across your blog. Any other alternatives to Baguio for a long weekend drive from Makati ?
Seems you haven’t travelled much Down Under ? If you do we should hook up. Come to think about it would you like to have a cuppa in January while we are there. If you are ever in the Greenbelt area let us know. We can swap travel stories and photos. Between now and then we can swap emails and then decide if we wanna meet up. Would be interesting to see if we can collaborate.
Cheers
Yani
Hi Yani,
Thanks so much! I’m glad you find my blog useful. No, I haven’t travelled much Down Under (and I wish I’d have the time in 2015!). It would be nice to have coffee with you in January, as long as it’s not during the Papal Visit week because I will be working then (doing coverage)! Please send me an e-mail at pinaytraveller@yahoo.com. I’m interested to hear about your ideas.:)
Happy travels!
Pauline
Hiya, I am really glad I have found this info. Today bloggers publish just about gossip and net stuff and this is actually irritating. A good blog with exciting content, thats what I need. Thank you for making this website, and Ill be visiting again. Do you do newsletters by email?
Hello!! Love your photos! 🙂 What camera do you use if you dont mind ? 🙂
Hi Anne! Thank you! I use an old Canon 650D, an iPad and an iPhone 6. 🙂 Can you tell which is which? Thanks for visiting! Happy travels!
I also love to travel and learn as well as experience other cultures. And by seeing blogs like this one, tt would really boost my interests. Thank you so much for sharing Pauline! Happy travels
