Indonesia: Borobudur At Last!
We arrived in Borobudur just a little over six in the morning. Our van driver told us that if we hurried, we would be able to catch “a beautiful view of Borobudur in the early morning.” The temple itself was a couple of kilometers away from the Tourist Center where we parked so we walked as if we were competing in a walkathon. Tickets, please? When options are not in your favor, you just have to ask for help. Preferably from somebody who speaks English. After realizing we had a very slim chance of taking the train back to Jakarta, The Hubby and I had to quickly think of Option B. What if we took the bus? But where do we book our tickets? Indonesia Trip: How I Saved Almost Php30, 000!
Hubby and I are going on our annual holiday at the end of the month. Our main destination, the magnificent 9th century Buddhist monument called Borobudur in Central Java, Indonesia. To get there, we will first fly to Jakarta, then take a connecting flight to Yogyakarta which is the gateway to Borobudur. The plan is to see the monument at sunrise (around 5am) because apparently, this is how it looks like then: After our ‘pilgrimage’ to Borobudur, we’ll spend a day in the area, head back to Jakarta by overnight train, explore the bustling capital for a day and a half, then fly back home to Manila.
