Eating at Xôi Yến Restaurant along Nguyen Huu Huan Street is a must for those visiting the Old Quarter in Hanoi. Virtually a local legend, it is constantly filled with hearty eaters thanks to its delicious sticky rice bowls.
Xoi is a traditional Vietnamese dish made from rice and corn and topped with the meat of your choice, including roasted pork, chicken, sausage, and pate. To complete the dish, there’s also crispy fried onions and shaved mung beans on the side. Your order also comes with a small bowl of fresh cucumber salad.
On regular days, the restaurant is very crowded, with patrons spilling out onto the sidewalk. But if you don’t mind dining al fresco, you can enjoy your meal at one of the small tables set up right outside the restaurant. A meal for two typically costs between 100,000 to 110,000 VND or $5-6. Not bad, right?
Despite the crowd, we quite enjoyed our meal. Dining here also let us get a glimpse of the local eating culture. Sharing meals with friends and loved ones is pretty much embedded in the Vietnamese way of life. And restaurants like Xôi Yến is one of the best places to experience that.
Xôi Yến Restaurant is located at 35 Nguyen Huu Huan, Hoan Kiem District.

Looks yummy. But the thing with sticky rice is that it makes me feel full too fast. Does it have the same effect on you?
