Brisbane is one of the most populous cities in Australia, next to Melbourne and Sydney. It has some of the most beautiful sceneries and tourist destinations, which is why it is one of the first cities that come to mind whenever travellers decide on going to the land down under.
If you are planning on visiting a friend in Brisbane or just looking to explore the city, there are some things that you would want to know about the airport. Waiting for your car hire or a friend to pick you up can be boring, so make sure to explore the airport to maximize your stay in Brissy. You can also advise them to park their car at Brisbane Airport’s safe and secure airport parking space, especially if they want to save some bucks. Here are some of the things that you can do when in BNE:
Digital Departure Cards
The Brissy airport is all about innovation. Just last year, they made a breakthrough and came up with digital departure cards. This can be downloaded from a smartphone, and allow passengers to fill out their information even before they arrive. Saves a lot of time!
Pharmacy
The airport pharmacy is open from 7 AM to 8 PM every day. They offer over the counter medicine and health products, so if ever you get out of your flight feeling jetlagged and lightheaded, you can head straight to the pharmacy to get your fix. Cosmetics, skincare, and fragrances are also available, so you do not have to worry about not bringing anything for your loved ones. You can find the pharmacy at the level 2 of Airside.
Airport Ambassadors
You will never get lost in Brisbane Airport, as men and women dressed in blue are all over the place. Their blue shirt are imprinted with the yellow letter “i”.
ATMs and Cash Machines
You will find a whole line of ATMs and cash machines at every level of both International and Domestic Terminals. You will never run out of money as long as you are in Brisbane Airport!
Baby Care Facilities
Travelling with a baby or toddler in hand? Change their diaper or give him them their dose of milk by heading on to one of the 9 parenting rooms in the International and Domestic Terminals. You can find several changing benches and microwaves in the room, as well as a private feeding room.
Currency Exchange
If you forgot to have your money exchanged to AUD, then go ahead and run to Travelex. Their offices are located at the International Terminal levels 2 and 3, as well as in levels 1 and 2 and central area of the Domestic Terminal.
Information Desk
Not familiar with Brisbane but still want to get a good grip of the city? Talk to the helpful attendants at the information desk. You can ask them where to get a car hire, where the nearest restaurants are, what to do in Brissy, and where to shop around. The desk is located at the second level of International Terminal, and at the first level of the Domestic Area. The one in International area is open from 5 AM to 2 AM, and the one in the Domestic area is open from 7 AM to 2:45 PM.
Luggage Storage and Lockers
Store your luggages safely at the luggage storage and lockers at the ground floor of International Terminal. You can also leave your items at the Domestic Terminal, just outside the Virgin and Qantas terminals.
Mobile Charging Areas
Charge your phones at the common user area (level 2), and left-hand side of the common user area (Departure Terminal). If you are in the International Terminal, then go straight to the Airside, in front of JR/Watch co. (level 3)
Prayer Rooms
Prayer rooms are conveniently located at the 4th level of International Terminal.
Showers
Bathe in warm water and refresh yourself after a very tiring flight! You can find these at the 2nd and 3rd level of the International Terminal, and at the 2nd level, central area satellite, and central area terminal of the Domestic Terminal.
