First of all, I’d like to apologize for my silence. It’s been quite a while since I wrote the first part of my Thailand/Cambodia trip. (It’s been what, ten years?;)) And what’s my excuse? Well, I could tell you that so many things piled up on me: graduate school papers and finals… a media ethics workshop in Vietnam…scripts… several events I had to attend to…
I could tell you those were the reasons for my silence. But I won’t.
Here’s the truth: I couldn’t bring myself to blog about the trip because I lost my DSLR. Yup, the barely one-year-old Canon550D that took me so long to buy. The one that took great pictures and great HD video. The one I used to shoot the beautiful details of the magnificent Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, the gargantuan Golden Buddha and the famous Golden Palace in Bangkok. Yup, THAT camera. I lost it along with the SD card that stored all my pictures and video of Thailand and Cambodia. And the worst part is, I lost the camera HERE. In Manila. In a cab. On my way home.
I won’t bore you with the gory details but I’ll tell you this much: losing that camera is like losing a limb. And I’ve been in mourning for that lost limb for more than a month now.
I just wanted to let you guys know, before this site gets covered in dust. I promise to get out of this photo-depression soon. For now, here are some news and amusing goings-on in the world of travel:
A traveller with a hair-raising experience at the airport…
The last bullfight in Catalonia (not my cup of tea, but worth a look)…
And finally, here comes the fuel efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliner…
Enjoy the videos and talk to you soon! Promise!
ooooh.i hope a little hug from a stranger helps a little. i knew of a friend who jst lost all his camera gear too there in manila. it seems it’s very rampant there unfortunately. =(

its not the best advise i can give but ul find means to get a new one soon so cheer up! p.s. i enjoy reading ur travel posts! 🙂
Thanks, Josephine. That virtual hug is greatly appreciated.:) yes, i gotta find a way to get a new one soon. Especially since there are trips lined up in the next few months! Thanks for dropping by! 🙂
I sympathize with you on your loss (of a camera) I know how it is hard to share the wonderful experience without an accompanying photograph, but be settled in you that you have great memories of the trip. I’ll soon be going to Vietnam and Cambodia myself and I’m planning to bring a spare camera just in case hehe.
Hi Marky! Thanks so much for the kind words. My husband did have a spare camera so we were still able to snap some photos.:) Hey, good luck on your trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Don’t forget to bring an umbrella. It was raining in HCMC when I was there last week.:)
Sorry to hear about this unfortunate event, I wish for the universe to conspire to give you a new DSLR or better yet, that person who found your camera would return it to you. Sending good vibes and blogging mojo 🙂
Thanks, Claire! I really do hope that I’d be able to get a camera soon, kahit hindi DSLR. A Canon G12 will make me really happy! Ingat!
hi, virtual hug from me too 🙂 i’m pretty sure you’ll get out of that photo-depression anytime soon and recover. you can still update this blog without the photo anyway google is there to help you out for now 🙂
cheers to more travel!
Thanks, Yvonne. Yup, can definitely help 🙂 Thanks and happy travels, too!
yiiiiikes! i would’nt know what to do if i lost my camera. 🙁
Yeah. I walked around dazed and confused for a couple of weeks.:(
Oh no! Kaya pala you haven’t been blogging 🙁
Sabi ni Peejo get the Canon S95 because it’s slim and it has almost the same quality as the G12 and less clunky. Put it in your pocket and di mo na daw maiwan 🙂 In any case, hope you get out of “mourning” HUGS!
Hey Mabes, yup. 🙁 Talaga? S95, huh? sige will look it up although I’m really eyeing the G12 kasi HD na yung video 🙂 Hay. I’m not over the loss, though. I kick myself everytime I remember. But time to move on. Thank you for the hugs!
