We received some great news last night: our Holy Land chaplain Bishop Chito Tagle has been appointed the new Archbishop of Manila. He replaces Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales who has served as Manila Archbishop for nine years.
We received this news with joy as well as a little apprehension. Although his installation date is yet to be announced, there is a (tiny) possibility that he won’t be able to join us given this new position and the preparations involved in his installation. On the one hand, being the Archbishop of Manila takes precedent over any pilgrimage. But on the other hand, I think joining this particular pilgrimage will help the good Bishop Archbishop in this new chapter of his life, especially since he has never been to Holy land.
But no matter what happens in the next few days (we leave next week!), I am just so happy not just for him, but for the rest of the Filipino people. His appointment ushers in a new era in the Church’s– if not the country’s– history. And one just needs to see and hear him speak to know that this is true. Read up on the new Archbishop here. You can also watch JesCom’s The Word Exposed for his reflections.
Congratulations – Archbishop Chito Tagle. We’ll miss you in Cavite.
Hi Rosita, indeed he will be missed in Cavite. But I spoke with him today and he said he will equally miss Cavite, especially now that it’s the Golden Jubilee! Thanks for dropping by.:)
We are here in Bethlehem, we heard Archbishop Tagle is coming on pilgrimage. We are hoping to join the Eucharistic celebration here at Jesus’ birthplace where he is the main Celebrant.
Please tell me the schedule, so we can share this grateful blessings.
