Back in the day, people would make mood or dream boards
by cutting out articles and photos from newspapers and magazines and literally pasting these on illustration boards or notebooks. I remember puting my clippings between clear plastic sheets and filing them for quick reference later.
Today, technology has made everything a lot simpler (although less tactile). Mood board creators are everywhere on the net. But my personal choice is Pinterest.
As a creative director and a travel enthusiast, I find Pinterest such a helpful tool, not only because of its no-nonsense interface but also because of its easy-sharing features. In a nutshell, it’s a party and you can pin if you want to!
I have several boards on Pinterest but I’ve set up four for Pinay Traveller:
Places to Visit is a board for my dream destinations (some I have visited, most I haven’t) sourced from all over the net including National Geographic and Cool Hunter;
Travel Must Haves is a board featuring some of the coolest travel products I’ve stumbled upon. Warning: very subjective;
Mapa is a map-themed collection of images; and
Street Art features the wonderful and sometimes baffling world of street art around the world.
Needless to say, I’m addicted. Share my addiction and pin with me here.
Meanwhile, here are some of the images of my dream destinations. All sources are in my Pinterest boards. Enjoy!
The Wave is on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes, in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, on the Colorado Plateau, Arizona.
//Bamboo Forest, Kyoto, Japan
//Lucca, Tuscany, Italy – the capital city of Lucca Province, famous for its well-preserved Reainassance-era city walls.
//Santorini, Greece – an island in the Southern Aegan Sea and remnant of a volcanic erruption. Also, one of the most romantic places in the world.
//Riomaggiore (Rimazùu in the local Ligurian language) is a thirteenth century village and comune in the province of La Spezia famous for its wine and its beautiful Mediterranean shoreline.
//The Taj Mahal, Agra, India – built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
//The Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye, Scotland
//Provence, France – a beautiful lavender field in the south of France. I can almost smell the flowers!
