For those of you who keep forgetting what to have and not have in your hand-carry bags, this may be of some use. Here are some tips on how to pack a hand-carry toiletry kit for short-haul flights.
This is my hand-carry toiletry kit. It’s a small see-thru pouch that actually holds 11 important items.

The plastic pouch measures 9 X 5 inches. I got it from one of my favorite shops, Beabi. It’s perfect for hand-carry bags as airport security guidelines require liquid containers to be placed inside clear resealable plastic bags with a maximum capacity not exceeding 1 liter. You can also use a ziploc bag but this one is a lot more sturdy.

The contents are pretty self-explanatory. But I’d just like to hightlight some items.
1.) Toilet seat liner / cover – sometimes airlines have these, sometimes they don’t. So just to be on the safe side, it’s best to just carry some with you. This 6-piece packet is less than 30 pesos in Watson’s.
2.) I usually take home the toiletries provided by the hotels I stay in such as the soap and lotion pictured above. The lotion container is just 10ml so it follows the airport guidelines to a T.
3.) Which reminds me: airport guidelines require liquids, aerosols and gels to be placed inside containers not exceeding 100ml. Decant your products into small, travel-sized containers so you won’t have trouble during security check.
4.) Sharp, pointy metal objects are not allowed in hand-carry bags. This includes nail files and even nail clippers with fold-out nail files.
5.) Lastly, adhesive tapes of any kind (masking tape, packing tape) are not allowed in hand-carry bags as well. Why? Use your imagination.:)
Although meant for short trips, this kit could serve you well for about 2-3 days.

I should really have one of these. Usually I just stuff wet wipes, medicine and gum. Thanks for this 😀
Hi Astrid. Yup, the plastic pouch is really helpful. Easier to see, too, if you’re running out of supplies.:)
